The roof of the 13 story Ohio Public Employee Retirement System (OPERS) building next door to the Holy Cross property was damaged by a storm on March 13, 2026. After months of preparation, the contractors are ready to replace the roof. This effort will require placing a very large crane on the Holy Cross parking lot for at least 4-6 weeks. OPERS explained that they investigated every possible location for the crane placement. It has been determined that our parking lot is the only place to reach the roof. Fr. Sullivan agreed in order to help their situation in the spirit of being good neighbors. The crane is scheduled to arrive on Thursday, October 15th and will take up a large portion of the Holy Cross parking lot. The spaces reserved for handicapped parking along with a dozen or so spaces will be available.
OPERS, in return, will place signs that will direct mass attendees and visitors on the weekends to free parking spaces in their parking garage. All of the gates will be open and all of the floors of the parking garage will be open for our use. An elevator will be operating. Any and all spaces are available. Furthermore, a security guard will be present to assist, direct, and/or answer any questions. The phone number is
614-222-2157 to the security guard house located in the parking garage.
Any questions, concerns, or any special needs for special events, etc. can be directed to Mike Pirik at 614-338-9959 at any time.
